Experts say that exercise doesn’t work like magic; you get what you put into it. Experts agree, though, that not all exercises are the same because they work more muscle groups, can be done by people with a wide range of fitness levels, or help you burn more calories. So, what are the best ways to work out? We asked four fitness experts this question and made a list of the ones they liked best.
Walking
And you don’t need anything but a good pair of shoes to walk. You can do it anywhere, at any time.
Walking isn’t just for people who have never worked out before.
Even very fit people can get a good workout from walking. People who have never exercised before should start by walking for 5 to 10 minutes until 30 minutes.
Training with breaks
Adding interval training to your cardio workout will help you get fitter and lose weight, no matter if you’ve never worked out before or if you’ve been working out for years. You can do it by going hard or fast for a minute or two, then slowing dowfor two to ten minutes depending on how long your total workout will be, and how much time you need to recover.
Squats
Experts say that strength training is a must. Cotton says, “The more fit you are in terms of your muscles, the more calories you can burn.”
And our experts tended to like exercises that worked on more than one muscle group. Squats are a great example because they work the quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteals.
Push-ups
When done right, a push-up can work the chest, shoulders, triceps, and even the muscles in the middle of the back. Then move to a desk, then a chair, then the floor with your knees bent, and finally the floor on your toes.
