Costa, J.D., to its board of directors.“I am extremely pleased to benefit from Sandy Costa’s expertise and his knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and companies that provide services to this industry,” said Donald A. Holzworth, Constella Group chairman and CEO. “Sandy’s successful leadership at Quintiles Transnational Corporation and Glaxo, Inc. will be extremely valuable as we expand our pharmaceutical services business in the United States and across the world.” “I am impressed by the breadth of services that Constella has developed,” said Costa. “In addition to its global reach and the culture of the organization, it seems poised to continue to succeed in carrying out its long-term vision.” Costa is an attorney with the Raleigh , N.C., , law firm Maupin Taylor. Prior to joining Maupin Taylor, he was vice chairman of Quintiles Transnational Corporation from 1999 until 2001. He served as president and chief operating officer of Quintiles from 1994 until Dec. of 1999 and was deeply involved in transforming the company from a contract research organization into a fully integrated global service company. At Quintiles, Costa oversaw the successful integration of more than 40 acquisitions. Prior to joining Quintiles, Costa spent more than 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He served as senior vice president, administration and general counsel of Glaxo Inc., (now GlaxoSmithKline) one of the world’s leading research base pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Costa sat on the company’s board of directors and took part in managing the company’s significant growth. Costa was also with Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals and Norwich/Eaton Pharmaceuticals. Costa is an adjunct professor in the clinical research program at the Campbell University School of Pharmacy. He sits on the board of directors of NPS Pharmaceuticals, CV Therapeutics and DigiScripts. He also sits on the board of visitors of The Duke Medical Center, The Duke Cancer Patient Support Program Board, The Duke Brain Tumor Advisory Committee, and The N.C., Outward Bound School Advisory Committee. He received his B.S. in pharmacy and his Juris Doctor degrees from St. John’s University. In addition to Costa and Holzworth, other members of Constella’s board of directors include Frederick W.
