The Council for Entrepreneurial Development Names Constella Group, Inc., as Life Science Services Company of the Year



DURHAM, N.C., Aug. 11, 2003—The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) recently named Constella Group, Inc., as the recipient of the 2003 CED Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for Life Science Services Company of the Year.

Constella was honored along with 16 other area entrepreneurs and high-growth companies at the CED's 17th annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Award and Family Fun Festival celebration on Aug. 8 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.

"This is a prestigious award," said Donald A. Holzworth, CEO of Constella. "I am proud that CED has chosen us against all of the other life sciences companies in North Carolina."

"This year's award winners epitomize the consistent and exceptionally strong contributions entrepreneurs make throughout the community," said Monica Doss, CED's president. "CED's Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards showcase significant achievements from companies and individuals. In addition, the awards highlight role models for other aspiring entrepreneurs."

  • Capital Connection Company of the Year—Oriel Therapeutics, Inc.

  • Charles Hamner Leadership Award—Fred Hutchison, Hutchison & Mason (previously awarded on May 21, 2003)

Event sponsors include Pepsi, The Business Journal (Raleigh, N.C.), BP Studios and Cassell Design Group, Inc. In addition, Alston & Bird LLP, Capitol Broadcasting Company and Piedmont Printing sponsored the Aug. 8 festival.

Constella is a long-time member of CED, which is the largest entrepreneurial support organization in the United States. Holzworth was a guest speaker for the CED's Executive Series event this past Jan., and Constella has participated in several CED fund-raising events, including the Entrepreneurs On-Air Challenge.
