Mitchell Kane Named Practice Leader for Constella Health Strategies
DURHAM, N.C., July 31, 2003—Constella Health Strategies, formerly Protocare Sciences and now a business unit of Constella Group, Inc., today announced Mitchell C. Kane as a new practice leader. Kane will provide consulting services in the areas of commercial strategy, business development, information systems, and pricing and contracting in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology marketplace.
"Mitchell possesses an extraordinary breadth of knowledge that spans the worlds of finance, accounting, and commercial sales and marketing," said Donato Tramuto, president and CEO of Constella Health Strategies. "This mix of skills and experiences uniquely positions him to address the market challenges that our clients face daily. His vast experience in strategic planning, sales, marketing and commercialization will augment our service capabilities as we create a fully-integrated program offering to our clients."
Kane previously served as vice president and chief financial officer for TrialCard Inc., an entrepreneurial start-up that provides advertising, marketing and strategic information and services to the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to that position, he spent 15 years with GlaxoSmithKline in a variety of senior management positions, most recently as vice president of pricing strategy and commercial support services. He also has held senior management positions with Vanity Fair Corporation/Blue Bell, Inc. and The Austin Company.
"When I work with clients, I like to evaluate their comprehensive business strategy in addition to all the critical elements of their commercialization efforts," said Kane. "It is important to understand how an organization invests and leverages all of its available resources in an integrated manner to ensure that those activities are consistent and complementary with its strategic plan. If an organization does this better than the competition, it is more likely to optimize its return on investment for each individual product, product portfolio and all ancillary service offerings."
Kane, a certified public accountant, received his M.B.A from The Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.A. from Valdosta State University.
