DURHAM, N.C., June 26, 2002—For the third time, Donald A. Holzworth, President and CEO of Analytical Sciences, Inc. (ASI), was selected from more than 100 nominations as one of 24 finalists for the Carolinas' 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® awards.

Holzworth was one of 10 finalists selected from the Triangle area. He and all other finalists from North Carolina and South Carolina were honored June 20 at an awards banquet at the Hilton Charlotte & Towers. Awards were presented in eight categories: Emerging, technology, life sciences, financial services, manufacturing/distribution, real estate/construction, retail and business services.

"It is a great honor to once again be selected as a finalist," said Holzworth, who was also a finalist in 1999 and 2001. "This year we once again entered this competition to bring regional attention to our outstanding work in the life sciences."

To be nominated for this award, an individual must be an owner/manager primarily responsible for the recent performance of a privately held company that is at least two years old. An independent panel of 11 judges, representing industries throughout the Carolinas, selected finalists for this year's award.
