South Africa HIV and AIDS Multi-Sectoral
Support Program
South Africa's National HIV and AIDS and STD Strategic
Plan takes a comprehensive multisectoral approach for addressing
the epidemic. While much has been achieved, considerable
challenges remain including the need to strengthen institutional
capacity and scale up the national response.
The DFID funded HIV and AIDS multisectoral Support Program
aims to strengthen the capacity of partners in the government,
civil society, and the private sector to achieve the objectives
of the plan. The program provides technical support on HIV
and AIDS to three national government departments, three
provincial governments, the Joint United Nations Program
on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), and a number of civil society
organizations.
The program is, for example, currently supporting the
development of provincial HIV and AIDS strategies and a
significant program to build the capacity of home and community
based care organizations.
Constella Futures is the managing consultant for the
program in conjunction with the Centre for AIDS Development,
Research and Evaluation (CADRE).
