MalariaSuccess Stories | Related Publications | Selected Projects Approximately 40 percent of the world's population is at risk from malaria, with most living in the world’s poorest developing countries. Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 90 percent of deaths due to malaria, with most of these occurring among young children - an African child is killed by malaria every 30 seconds. Pregnant women and their unborn children are also particularly vulnerable to malaria, its effects being a major cause of perinatal mortality, low birth weight, and maternal anemia. Constella Futures is meeting this urgent public health threat by responding on several critical fronts. Our projects support country and community-level advocacy aimed at giving voice to those impacted by malaria and equipping decision- and policy-makers with critical data and information. We further work to stem the tide of malaria related illness and deaths by developing and implementing innovative partnerships with the private sector in support of malaria prevention, including the development of local capacity for the production and distribution of insecticide treated bed nets.
