Health SciencesWe deliver the latest information and system technologies while tapping Constella’s extensive scientific and health domain expertise. Depending on the project’s scope, Constella can provide both strategic consultations for large-scale systems architecture and create tools to extract and store data and content from various sources. Our information technology professions can build and customize software applications and searchable web-based information repositories that are specifically suited to the project’s needs. Because our IT staff understands technology and public health, we can quickly understand your program’s needs and identify and implement technology to improve your processes. Specific offerings that Constella provides include:
Selected Projects
Information and Knowledge for Optimal Health (INFO)Client: USAID The Information and Knowledge for Optimal Health (INFO) project, based at Johns Hopkins University, supports health-care decision making in developing countries by providing a full range of information-exchange and knowledge-sharing resources related to reproductive health. To facilitate this information exchange, Constella provides all information technology (IT) services and support for the INFO project. From full life-cycle information architecture, graphic design, system design, development and deployment of existing and future software systems to the development and deployment of software systems including the INFO web site, web site content management tools, and supporting databases, Constella has worked closely with USAID to provide IT guidance and leadership for INFO. Biomedical Research Support Center and the Scientific Peer Review of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP)Client: Department of Defense, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) Each year, the USAMRMC receives approximately 2,500 proposals from health researchers requesting funding through CDMRP. Since 1995, Constella has been supporting USAMRMC by providing a comprehensive Peer Review Service Center to help them determine the scientific merit of each proposal and ultimately, which ones to fund. Through this contract, Constella has successfully managed the receipt, review, and summary statement writing of more than 27,000 proposals/applications, referring them to more than 530 peer review panels comprised of more than 10,000 scientific and consumer reviewers. To perform this work, our Meeting/Travel Planners have supported over 90 peer review sessions during more than 40 meetings. In order to support this, and similarly massive efforts, Constella developed a Web-based, integrated solution that provides a foundation for automating and managing the entire process. Called the Program and Peer Review Management Information System (P2RMIS™), the tool provides automated support for all aspects of the peer review process including panel management, electronic application submission, online abstract reviews, e-scoring, and logistical support. By using P2RMIS™, Constella has supported Department of Defense studies in osteoporosis, prion diseases, and defense women’s health and provides ongoing support for initiatives in breast, prostrate, and ovarian cancers; chronic myelogenous leukemia; neurofibromatosis, and tuberous sclerosis. |
