Andrew Friede, MD, MPH Vice President for Health Affairs
Dr. Andrew Friede joined Constella as Vice President
for health affairs in the health sciences unit in 2002.
A nationally known expert in the field of public health
informatics, he provides high-level strategic counsel on
health and biomedical issues, and helps our business unit
and our clients develop new strategies and programs for
enhancing human health.
Prior to joining Constella, Friede was a physician executive with the Cerner Corp., a leading provider of clinical and management information systems and services to the health-care industry worldwide. He focused on developing collaborative research products with Cerner clients to evaluate the impact of information systems in improving health.
Before his employment with Cerner, he served as a medical officer in the Commissioned Officer Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. His service included a tour as chief of the Public Health Information Systems Branch, where he led the design, development and implementation of the CDC WONDER, an integrated information and communications system that supports all aspects of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) mission.
In his final tour in the Public Health Service, he served as special assistant to the director, Public Health Practice Program Office. He has also served as a consultant to the World Bank and the UN for public health and clinical information systems in China and Madagascar. He is the author of numerous publications and served as the chief editor of the CDC Prevention Guidelines.
Friede is an elected fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics and holds a master's of public health from Harvard University and a doctor of medicine from Johns Hopkins University.
