Charles G. Lineberry, Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer
As Chief Scientific Officer for the product development business unit, Charles
Lineberry plays an active role in consulting on drug development strategies
for Constella clients, overseeing the design and management of clinical
trial programs and the preparation of multiple regulatory
submissions (INDs and NDAs), clinical study reports, clinical
development plans, and other non-regulatory writing projects.
He has broad therapeutic experience and is a frequent speaker
on issues related to minimizing placebo response and overcoming
challenges in psychiatric and analgesic drug development.
The Co-Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of
Lineberry Research Associates (LRA), acquired by Constella
in November 2006, Lineberry has NIH post-doctoral training
in neurobiology. He has more than 30 years of professional
experience in biomedical research, including more than 25
years in clinical drug development for the pharmaceutical
industry. Prior to the founding of LRA, Lineberry headed
Clinical Neurosciences at Burroughs Wellcome Co. (now GlaxoSmithKline)
and was responsible for the development of compounds in
psychiatry, neurology, and anesthesiology. Under his leadership,
his staff was responsible for the submission of 18 INDs
and 8 approved NDAs. His experience includes both domestic
and international drug development.
Earlier in his career, Lineberry held teaching and research
positions in the medical schools at the University of Florida
in Gainesville and the University of Pittsburgh. Lineberry
received a B.A. in psychology and a Ph.D. in physiological
psychology from the University of Delaware.
